Golden Haldi Milk

Haldi doodh — the golden nightcap that Indian grandmothers have sworn by for generations.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk (or plant milk)
  • ½ tsp Chhatis King Haldi Powder
  • 1 small pinch black pepper (helps absorption)
  • ¼ tsp Chhatis King Cow Ghee
  • Honey or jaggery to taste, a pinch of cardamom

Method

  1. Warm the milk gently in a pan.
  2. Whisk in turmeric, black pepper and ghee.
  3. Simmer on low for 4–5 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Sweeten with honey or jaggery, add cardamom and serve warm.

Why It Works

A pinch of black pepper and a little fat (ghee) make the turmeric far more absorbable — the traditional pairing was right all along.
