Know Your Haldi
Spice Guide

Turmeric is the soul of Indian cooking — but not all haldi is equal. Here’s how to know you’re getting the real thing.
How to Spot Pure Turmeric
- Colour: pure haldi is a deep, earthy golden — not a harsh, bright neon yellow (a sign of artificial colour).
- Aroma: it should smell warm, earthy and slightly peppery.
- The water test: stir a little in warm water — pure turmeric settles and turns the water a soft yellow, not a fluorescent orange.
Ways to Use It
- Bloom ¼ tsp in hot oil at the start of cooking for colour and depth.
- Add to dals, sabzis and marinades.
- Whisk into warm milk for a soothing golden latte.
Every tin of Chhatis King Haldi is stone-ground and lab-tested — no artificial colour, ever.
